Recreational Program

The Pride Recreational program is available to any player ages 4-14, regardless of experience and ability. The program places an emphasis on skills development and sportsmanship in a fun and safe environment for all.

Teams are formed by the club primarily according to zip codes or areas of town. Pride makes every effort to group players according to their local neighborhood or school district though there will always be exceptions to this, which are dependent on registration. Training locations are at the coach’s discretion. Teams will be gender specific unless there is a request for a female player to play on a boy’s team.

Coaching Staff

Recreational coaches are volunteers who receive guidance and materials from our Technical Director and club Directors. Each team coach will choose their teams practice nights, times and locations. U4-U6 teams will normally have 1 practice per week, U7-U8 will have 1 or 2 and U9 and up will usually practice twice per week. The team coach will receive their roster roughly three weeks prior to the first game and will contact all the players to set up the practices.

Behavior Expectations

Coaches

  • Set a good example for your players and team
  • Represent yourself, your players and Pride Soccer
  • Provide each player with a positive experience, safe environment and at least 50% play time
  • Teach the players!

Parents

  • Focus on the experience rather than the result and performance
  • Positive and encouraging; not coaching from sidelines

Players

  • Have fun
  • Respect teammates, coaches, referees and opponents
  • Be coachable!!!

What to do in event of a ‘blowout’

  • Add players; work on tactics*

Zero tolerance of abuse of players, parents, coaches or referees – Referees are typically juniors, training prior to taking charge of competitive games. They are learning the role and need our help!
