Development Academy (DA)

What is the Development Academy Program?

Following a comprehensive review of elite player development in the United States and around the world, U.S. Soccer created the Development Academy in 2007 to provide education, resources and support to impact everyday club environments that will develop world-class players. The Academy Program’s philosophy is based on increased training, less total games, and more meaningful games using international rules of competition.

The U.S. Soccer Development Academy in the 2019-2020 season will offer U13 and U14 teams in CO. Pride will form teams in the U11/U12, U13 and U14 age groups. Within the U11/U12 age groups there will be two teams that play 9v9 (one group made of mostly 08s and one made of mostly 09s). The U11/U12 Pride Academy teams will play in the top CSA league. We will form one team at U13 and one at U14 that play 11v11, and these 2 teams will compete in the US Soccer Development Academy league. Pride Development Academy teams will be formed through a variety of evaluation methods. Players can be selected at Identification sessions (mid May) or Academy training (mid July).

For the 2019-2020 Development Academy season players are eligible to compete in the following divisions:

  • U11 – born in 2009 or younger
  • U12 – born in 2008 or younger
  • U13 – born in 2007 or younger
  • U14 – born in 2006 or younger

Pride is dedicated to developing better people and better players, and as members of the Development Academy we will continue to provide the highest level of training and competition for our elite players. We are invested in our players at every level by offering programs for novice players, and with our acceptance into the Development Academy, we now have the ultimate step for our young players to aspire to reach on their soccer pathway.
