What is Twitter?

Twitter is a new Social networking company that let’s you send out a short message (140 characters or less) and broadcast it to whoever wants to sign up to get that message. You can sign up to receive it on your cell phone or just sign up to view on the web. I would sign up for Pride updates on your cell phone but I wouldn’t do that for the other people you follow. Could be a bit over whelming.

Below are instructions on how to get set up on Twitter and how to set up your cell phone device. If you have any problems send me an email at craig.decker@gmail.com

Setup Twitter and get all the Pride Soccer updates on your cell# or email.

1. goto www.twitter.com/pridesoccer and Click on the Green button that reads “Join Today”

 

2. Fill out profile information.

3. You can “Skip” the next few steps and come back to adding people to “follow” at another time. Now let’s set up your cell # (Don’t worry you won’t get over burdened with a ton of messages but only do this if you get free texts). On top of the screen select the link “Settings” and then select “Device”. Enter your cell with a + and a 1.

4. After you enter your cell phone # you will get a code. Send a text (they will give you a 5-digit code to the # 40404 (I would save this as a twitter contact in your address book)

5. Refresh your browser and you should see a screen that gives you cell# options. If you do then you can move to the next step. If not there is a help link and they can help you. The most common problems are - Not entering cell phone # in correct format. or “Short codes” being turned off by your cell phone provider so you might want to call them and check.

6. Click on “Home” and you should see updates from Pride Soccer. Click on the title Pride Soccer or the Logo of Wasson Soccer and you should be at the page. Now select the grey arrow to the left side of the word “following”. From here you can turn on updates and you will get a text whenever we make a change to Field closures, team updates etc…
